Starting Wage DOE: $37.11 - 46.39
The MRI MRSO technologist is responsible for the safe evaluation, preparation, and management of patients with implanted or external medical devices undergoing MRI examinations. This role serves as a technical expert in MRI device safety, ensuring compliance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards while supporting the MRI team in delivering high-quality imaging. The MRI MRSO Technologist works collaboratively with radiologists, physicists, vendor representatives, technologists, and referring providers to assess device compatibility and mitigate risks.
Essential Job Functions
• Performs MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and safety standards; ensures appropriate patient positioning, image quality, patient monitoring, and accurate procedure documentation.
• Evaluates patients for implanted or external medical devices prior to MRI procedures, including verification of device information, MRI compatibility, and required scanning conditions.
• Develops, implements, and documents individualized MRI safety protocols for patients with implanted devices or other identified risks to ensure safe imaging practices.
• Provides oversight and guidance related to MRI safety practices, including device workups, scan room safety, risk mitigation, and compliance with organizational protocols.
• Collaborates with radiologists, MRI physicists, providers, device representatives, and other healthcare team members to coordinate safe and effective patient care.
• Serves as a subject matter resource for MRI safety by providing education, training, and guidance to staff and providers regarding device safety, screening practices, and emerging technologies.
• Maintains accurate documentation and ensures compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and industry best practices.
• Participates in development, review, and improvement of MRI safety protocols, workflows, audits, and multidisciplinary safety initiatives as applicable.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
•

Experience
• 2–3 years of Certified MRI technologist (ARRT (MR)) experience or relevant clinical/technical experience
• 2 years of experience with implantable devices (e.g., pacemakers, neurostimulators, infusion pumps) preferred

Certifications and Licenses
• Advanced MRI safety or device certification (e.g., MRSE, MRSO, or device-specific training)
within 1 year of hire

• ARRT (MR) At hire
